SailLog (“the App”, “we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use SailLog.

2. Quick Summary

SailLog is designed to work primarily offline.
Your profile and journey data are stored locally on your device.
We do not run a backend server for your in-app profile/logbook data.
We do not sell your data.
We do not use advertising SDKs.

3. Information Processed

3.1 Information You Enter

You may enter and store:

Profile information (for example name, surname, date of birth, nationality)
Sailing licences/certificates
Journey/logbook records
Optional profile image

3.2 Device Permissions

The App may request:

Camera and/or photo library access (to capture or select a profile image)
Local storage access needed for app functionality

3.3 Technical and Platform Data

We do not intentionally collect personal data to our own servers through SailLog.
App stores, mobile operating systems, and network providers may process technical data under their own privacy policies.

4. How Information Is Used

Information is used only to provide app functionality, including:

Managing your profile and sailing journey records
Displaying insights/analytics generated from local data inside the App
Allowing user-initiated sharing through device share features

5. Storage and Transfers

Data is stored locally on your device.
We do not upload your profile/journey data to SailLog-operated servers.
No cloud sync is currently provided by us.

We do not share your in-app personal data with third parties for advertising or analytics.

Data may be processed by third parties only when you choose to use external/platform features, such as:

Opening the external feedback form (Microsoft Forms)
Using app-store or operating system services
Using your device share function

Those third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

7. External Services and Links

SailLog may open external links (for example a feedback form hosted on Microsoft Forms).
If you use an external service, that service is responsible for its own data practices.

8. Legal Bases (EEA/UK)

Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, legal bases may include:

Performance of a contract (providing app functionality)
Legitimate interests (security, maintenance, reliability)
Consent (where required, such as optional permissions)

Because SailLog stores user content locally and does not transmit it to our servers, our direct processing is limited.

9. Data Retention

Data remains on your device until you delete it.
You can delete data inside the App, clear app storage in device settings, or uninstall the App.
Uninstalling generally removes local app data, subject to device/OS behavior.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

Access
Rectification
Erasure
Restriction
Objection
Data portability
Withdraw consent (where consent is used)

Because data is local on your device, you can directly manage and delete it there.

11. Children’s Privacy

SailLog is not directed to children under 13 (or higher age required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal data to our servers.

12. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the App.
However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

13. International Users

If you choose to use third-party services from within the App, those services may process data in countries other than your own according to their own policies.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
Any update will be posted at this URL with a revised “Last updated” date.
